What is Cada Piedra?

Bolbaite Castle, handcrafted Spanish jewellery

The Castles of Valencia

Over the past six years, our fascination with the rich history and aesthetic quality of the colours, castles and palaces in the Valencia region has deepened profoundly. Each view reveals a hidden narrative, and every stone is uniquely shaped by its location. As jewellery designers and makers, it became a natural progression to translate these forms and colours into wearable art.

Cada Piedra Design evolved and is adjacent to the castle in Bolbaite, a setting that has inspired the inception of our collection, Each Stone (Cada Piedra).

This collection embodies the essence of the structures that surround us in Valencia, capturing their intricacies and stories in carefully crafted pieces. Each item reflects the character and nuances found in the stones of these historic edifices, allowing wearers to carry a piece of history with them. Whether you're seeking custom jewellery from Spain, unique Spanish souvenirs, or travel keepsakes, Cada Piedra offers meaningful alternatives to the typical. Each design serves as a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us and the tales waiting to be told.

Anna Castle, handcrafted Spanish jewellery

Castle Anna

Castle-Palace of the Counts of Cervellón

The Castle-Palace of Anna, classified as an asset of cultural interest, takes its name from the Counts of Cervellón, as it was the palace of this family: the family that possessed the county of Anna at the start of the 19th century, before feudal rights were abolished.

In 1604, a thorough refurbishment was undertaken which transformed the castle into a residential palace.

In 1890, the counts of Cervellón sold their properties to Ricardo Trénor Bucelli, a bourgeois millionaire of Irish descent, whose descendants negotiated the sale to the Council in 1980. Decades later (2000-2005), an employment workshop and a workshop-school were engaged to refurbish the building and train professionals from the municipality, of different ages and professions. Simultaneously, the work was completed with an architectural restoration, and décor from the Moorish tradition, this work was carried out by Muslim craftsmen (2006-2007).

Inside, the origins of the municipality can be discovered at the Water Museum in the cistern.

The objects on display, décor and furnishings in the rooms, the display cabinets and information panels, are complemented with screenings in different rooms, which, alongside explanations from the guides, help to bring visitors closer to the history of Anna and the Castle-Palace of the Counts of Cervellón

Xativa Castle, handcrafted Spanish jewellery

Castle Xativa

Perched high above Xàtiva on Sierra del Castell, the twin fortress is a key historical site. It consists of the Castell Menor, built on important Iberian and Roman remains, and the Castell Major. The castle has witnessed battles, including those during Hannibal’s campaigns and the Al-Ándalus period. It played a crucial role in the Kingdom of Valencia during conflicts with Castile, such as the Revolt of the Brotherhoods and the War of the Spanish Succession. Also used as a prison for notable captives, it showcases a rich history. Its remaining walls and towers primarily have Islamic or Gothic origins, blending architectural styles. Recognized as a Cultural Heritage Site, the castle offers stunning views and is essential for visitors to Xàtiva, appealing to history enthusiasts and casual travelers alike.

Castle Bolbaite

Castle-Palace of the Cabanyelles family

The Andalusí farmstead of Bolbaite had a castle-shelter built in the 12th century.

In the last quarter of the 15th century and the first half of the 16th century, Bolbaite was owned by the Cabanyelles/Vila-rasa families.

Recently, Bolbaite Council began the arduous task of planning interventions to shore up the walls as well as archaeological excavations and museum exhibits that restore the historic building’s value as a monument.
Particularly noteworthy is the adaptation of one of the rooms in the castle-palace as an Interpretation Centre. In fact, it is a beautiful museum that displays stone, plaster and ceramic treasures, recovered during the refurbishment work, and it explains the historic and artistic importance of the building.
